On November 10, 2024, a tragic two-vehicle collision in Edgefield County claimed the life of 52-year-old Rupal Patel of Aiken. The crash occurred at approximately 3:35 p.m. on Plum Branch Road near Morgan Busey Road. According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the driver of a 2004 Toyota Sienna van ran a stop sign, colliding with a 2003 Toyota Camry. Patel, a passenger in the van, died at the scene, while others involved, including the driver and passengers from both vehicles, were transported to a nearby hospital. The incident remains under investigation.
