Abigail Cadoura dies in fatal Columbus, Georgia stabbing

Fatal Columbus, Georgia stabbing death of Abigail Cadoura – Obituary

Abigail Cadoura, 22, was found dead with multiple stab wounds inside her apartment on Williams Road in Columbus, Georgia on Monday evening. She was pronounced dead at 8:17 p.m., according to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan.

Columbus Police had initially responded to a hit-and-run crash at the nearby Summit Pointe Apartments when they were alerted that Cadoura, a resident of the complex, had not shown up for planned family activities and was unresponsive. A welfare check led officers to discover her body.

Investigators quickly tracked Cadoura’s white SUV, which was located on Interstate 85 in Banks County. A police pursuit ended in a crash, and the driver, 26-year-old Luke Mercardante, was arrested. He now faces charges of murder and vehicle theft.

Authorities confirmed that Cadoura and Mercardante had been involved in an on-and-off relationship. The Columbus Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit continues to investigate.
