Fatal Newport pedestrian accident death of Joseph H. Gore – Obituary

Joseph H. Gore, 64, of Newport, tragically passed away on the night of April 25 while attempting to cross Highway 24 at the intersection with 9 Mile Road. The incident occurred around 10:22 p.m. when Gore failed to look before crossing and was struck by two vehicles traveling westbound.

Both vehicles were attempting to turn onto 9 Mile Road. Gore was pronounced dead at the scene, and the road was closed for an hour and a half to clear the area. No charges will be filed, as per the N.C. Highway Patrol’s statement.
