Authorities in Statesville, North Carolina, responded to a deadly crash involving a utility terrain vehicle early Sunday morning. According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, the incident occurred on Saw Mills Road close to Union Grove Road.

Investigators report that a 2019 Polaris RXR was moving northwest when the driver, 25-year-old Seth Allen Paynter, lost control. The vehicle veered across the center line, exited the road to the left, and overturned.

Paynter, who was not secured by a seatbelt, was thrown from the UTV and died at the scene. Officials stated that alcohol likely played a role in the crash.
