Fatal Missouri Valley car crash death of Aaliyah Draine – Obituary

Aaliyah Draine, 22, of Omaha, was killed early Saturday morning in a head-on collision on Interstate 29 near Missouri Valley, Iowa.

The Iowa State Patrol reports that the crash happened around 2:50 a.m. when a 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt traveling north in the southbound lanes struck a 2013 Dodge Durango headed southbound. Draine, a passenger in the Cobalt, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The vehicle was being driven by 30-year-old Malka Bingham, also of Omaha, who sustained critical injuries in the crash. The Durango’s driver received injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Following the initial crash, another vehicle traveling south on I-29 attempted to avoid the scene but lost control amid the wreckage and rolled into a ditch. Authorities say the driver of that vehicle was not injured.

Investigators noted that neither Bingham nor Draine were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.
