Fatal Battle Ground stabbing death of Tiffany Vela and Spencer Jones – Obituary

Tiffany Vela, 37, and Spencer Jones, 37, were found dead inside a Battle Ground home Tuesday morning, the Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed. Both victims succumbed to multiple sharp force injuries.

Police were dispatched shortly before 10 a.m. to a medical emergency on Northeast 2nd Avenue after a 911 call reported multiple people down inside the residence. Upon arrival, officers discovered Vela and Jones deceased, while a third individual, 40-year-old Evaristo “Junior” Vela, was critically wounded.

Investigators later identified Evaristo Vela as the suspect in the double homicide. He remains hospitalized, and no updates on his condition have been released. Court records show Tiffany Vela and Evaristo Vela were legally married but separated at the time.

The suspect’s sister reportedly placed the emergency call after receiving a message from Evaristo threatening self-harm. She arrived to find the two victims stabbed and her brother inflicting injuries on himself.

Police have learned from longtime friends that Tiffany Vela and Spencer Jones had a prior romantic relationship that had recently resumed, which likely contributed to the breakdown of Tiffany’s marriage.

The Clark County Major Crimes Team is actively investigating the case as more details unfold.
