Fatal Mount Ida homicide death of Kevin Smalling – Obituary

Kevin Smalling, 53, was found deceased near a property in Mount Ida following a homicide investigation led by Arkansas State Police. Authorities officially confirmed his identity on Wednesday.

The investigation began Saturday when the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office asked for assistance in a missing persons case. Upon arrival, state police agents uncovered signs of foul play. Evidence quickly led them to arrest 53-year-old Billy Walden.

Walden faces several charges, including first-degree murder, kidnapping, abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence, resisting arrest, and fleeing. He is currently held at the Montgomery County Detention Center with his bond set at $100,000.
