Millsboro Man Daniel Steele Arrested in Sussex County for Murder of Family Member

MILLSBORO, DELAWARE — Daniel Steele, a 46-year-old resident of Millsboro, was arrested in Sussex County in connection with the murder of a 75-year-old family member.

According to the Delaware State Police, Steele was taken into custody on Sunday evening at a residence on Phillips Hill Road. Authorities say that on June 15, 2025, concerned relatives requested a welfare check after being unable to contact the victim for several days. Upon arrival, troopers discovered the woman unresponsive on a couch. Emergency Medical Services confirmed that she was deceased at the scene.

Investigators determined that Steele was involved in a physical altercation with the victim, during which he assaulted her until she lost consciousness and subsequently failed to seek medical assistance.

Steele was transported to Troop 4 and charged with First-Degree Murder. He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 7 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $1,000,000 cash bond.
