Fatal Kimberlina Road car crash death of Cristhian Francisco Leon Covarrubias

California Highway Patrol officers responded to a vehicle collision on Kimberlina Road shortly before dawn on Sunday. The incident occurred at approximately 2:54 a.m. in the vicinity of Wallace Road, northeast of Shafter.

According to preliminary findings, the 34-year-old operator of a 2006 Nissan Maxima was driving eastbound on the road when the vehicle unexpectedly veered northeast. The driver departed the roadway and subsequently collided with a power pole located on the north side of Kimberlina Road.

Emergency medical services pronounced the driver deceased at the scene, with the death occurring at around 2:51 a.m. The Kern County Coroner’s Office later identified the individual as Cristhian Francisco Leon Covarrubias, a resident of Wasco.

Investigators have indicated that neither the presence of alcohol or drugs nor the specific cause of the incident can be determined at this stage.
