An ongoing probe has been initiated following the discovery of an inmate at the Birmingham City Jail in a state of no responsiveness. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has confirmed that the individual was DeAngelo Dewayne Brown, who was 40 years old and had connections to Birmingham.
Jefferson County’s lead deputy coroner, Matt Angelo, detailed that Brown was located in his solitary confinement unit at 11:14 p.m. on Wednesday and was pronounced deceased shortly after at 11:58 p.m. The authorities are working to determine the exact circumstances leading to his demise.
According to records from the police department, Brown had been admitted to the detention facility on June 29th for charges related to family-related violence. Further tests, including a postmortem examination, are planned for Thursday to ascertain the precise reasons for his death.
