Fatal Chattahoochee River drowning death of Frank Young

A person went missing in the Chattahoochee River after they intervened to help a mother and her kid from being submerged underwater, tragically leading to their demise. The authorities reported that this individual was attempting to rescue the family members from the water.

The Rowell police were summoned to the river area near a boat access point in Gerrard Landing Park around 8:15 in the evening on Wednesday. According to the official report from the incident, a 14-year-old youth informed the police that his 4-year-old sibling had fallen into the river, prompting his mother to enter the water as well.

It is stated that neither the young girl nor the mother possessed swimming abilities. Consequently, Frank Young, who was recognized by the medical examiner’s office as being 59 years old and a family companion, entered the river to aid them in reaching safety. However, the boy recounted that Young, despite his intentions, could not swim and ultimately submerged beneath the surface.

First responders managed to recover Young’s body before 10 p.m. The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office was also dispatched to the location, but the police indicated there was no indication of a crime.
