Fatal Tehachapi stabbing death of Norman E. Higginbotham

Kern County’s Coroner has confirmed the identity of an aged man who passed away following his discovery with stab injuries in a remote, mountainous region near Tehachapi as 83-year-old Norman E. Higginbotham. He was located on June 13, 2025, at about 9:49 in the evening in an exposed, hilly area close to the 24000 block of Banducci Road in Tehachapi.

Deputies from the Kern County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the location after receiving a call about a body inside a substantial shipping container. A post-mortem examination was performed, determining the cause of death as multiple stab injuries and the manner as unlawful killing.

The individual accused of this crime is Skyler Higginbotham. He was apprehended on June 25, 2025, at approximately 7:00 in the evening at the intersection of Madre Street and Park Road for charges related to this homicide investigation.
