Fatal Pine Mountain murder death of Bridgett Powell

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation announced charges against a teenager accused of murdering a relative and attempting to hide the body by starting a fire. Elohim Hill, who is 19 years old, faces multiple serious accusations tied to the incident in Pine Mountain.

According to information released by the GBI, Hill is charged with the unlawful killing of Bridgett Powell, a 54-year-old woman. Reports indicate that Hill was related to the victim, and he allegedly tried to conceal her death by setting a house ablaze. The authorities stated that Hill was arrested shortly after the fire was extinguished.

Details from the Pine Mountain Police Department and Fire Department reveal that emergency services responded to a fire at a residence around 9:30 a.m. on June 13. When responders arrived, they discovered Hill outside the burning building. Following the fire suppression efforts, investigators inside the house identified the deceased woman as Bridgett Powell. This finding led to Hill being formally charged with additional crimes, including murder, aggravated battery, and aggravated assault.

The case is currently under investigation by the GBI, and no details have been released about the events leading up to the murder. The agency emphasized that the probe is still ongoing, and any information regarding the motive or circumstances surrounding the killing remains unknown at this time.

Once the investigation is concluded, the case will be forwarded to the Chattahoochee Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for potential prosecution. Hill was processed and admitted into the Harris County Jail on Friday, marking a significant step in the legal proceedings against him.
