Fatal Fremont Train Strike Death of Mark Traver
FREMONT, Ohio  Tragically, Mark Traver, a 55-year-old man, lost his life after being hit by a train while walking along the tracks near State Street in Fremont on Monday evening, according to Fremont police Chief Derek Wensinger.
The authorities discovered the deceased under the train on the railway line, north of State Street. Despite the prompt lifesaving actions of emergency responders, Traver did not survive his injuries.
Fremont Police Department reports indicate no suspicion of foul play in connection with Traver’s death. An autopsy examination has been officially scheduled.
This incident marks the second fatality on Fremont’s railways this year. Two adults and a child were killed in a separate incident on May 18th.
On that night, a family of four from Fort Wayne, Indiana, was on a fishing excursion in Fremont when they were struck by a Norfolk Southern train passing over a bridge on Hayes Avenue.
O Ny Zar, 34, and her 50-year-old mother, Ram Ma San Be, were pronounced deceased at the scene. The body of O Ny Zar’s 5-year-old daughter, Intisar Mi, was located the following day beneath the bridge structure. The other child, O Ny Zar’s 14-month-old daughter, sustained severe injuries.
However, a nearby fisherman, who was beneath the Miles Newton Bridge at the same time, managed to rescue the toddler from the water and administer CPR.
