Fatal Mobile County car crash death of TyKerriya Overstreet
Law enforcement officials report that two adolescents lost their lives after being involved in a serious motor vehicle incident occurring in the early hours of Wednesday morning within south Alabama. The teenagers, identified as being 15 and 16 years of age, were traversing a roadway when they were impacted by a 2018 model Dodge vehicle.
Both individuals were declared deceased at the scene by emergency medical responders immediately following the collision. The operator of the car involved, a female resident of Mobile who is 36 years old, has not yet been identified in further detail by authorities.
A relative of the 16-year-old victim, TyKerriya Overstreet, has publicly expressed a desire for clarification regarding the sequence of events leading to the tragedy. This young woman’s aunt, Takea Simmons, voiced concern and dissatisfaction with the level of information released by law enforcement agencies, stating that the family seeks answers about how the teens were struck.
Simmons further criticized the official response, noting that the accident happened in a well-lit residential area without any traffic control devices present. She emphasized that the responding team arrived at the location at approximately 6 a.m., a considerable delay from the time of impact, and questioned the thoroughness of the ongoing investigation.
According to preliminary statements from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, the fatal collision transpired around 1:20 a.m. on Airport Boulevard, situated close to Trailwood Boulevard in Mobile County. The agency’s Highway Patrol Division has confirmed that this incident is currently under their examination as they work to determine the precise circumstances surrounding the accident.
