Fatal Shorewood shooting death of Victoria Truss
Law enforcement personnel are still examining the site of a grave early morning event in Shorewood, which resulted in the death of a 34-year-old woman and left another individual with injuries. The identified victim, according to an acquaintance, is Victoria Truss.
When authorities arrived at the location on Thursday, the person suspected of the crime began firing at them, causing harm to one police officer from Shorewood. The officer was struck while inside his patrol vehicle; fortunately, the bullet was stopped by his protective gear, and he suffered only minor damages. Evidence at the scene includes multiple bullet impacts on the windshield.
The suspect then drove off quickly without being able to return fire. The initial attack on Truss took place outside her residence, located close to Bartlett Avenue and Wood Place. Officials have confirmed that the suspect was someone she knew.
Eyewitnesses, such as John Klaus, reported hearing several shots early in the morning, initially mistaking them for celebrations. Shorewood’s chief expressed concern for the officer’s safety and emphasized the need to halt such acts against law enforcement. The chief noted that the identity of the suspect was known through prior reports and communications.
Further details from the Wauwatosa Police Department indicate that around 9:30 a.m., officers located the suspect in a dark car and initiated a pursuit. During this chase, the suspect fired at the officers from his moving vehicle. The incident concluded near a different area in Milwaukee. In response, the police officers returned fire, leading to the suspect’s death.
No officers were reported to have been hurt in the chase or confrontation. Standard procedures were followed, with involved officers placed on temporary leave. The suspect’s name has not been released.
An investigative group is now examining the incident involving the officer. Victoria’s family has launched a fundraising campaign to support her child and funeral expenses. Those wishing to contribute can find the link provided.
