Fatal Fayetteville car crash death of Angel Rodriguez
Investigators arrived at the intersection of Robeson and Whitfield streets shortly after 11 p.m. Wednesday following reports of a collision where an individual was hit by a motor vehicle.
The person who was struck, Angel Rodriguez, was 41 and a resident of Fayetteville. Medical professionals at the scene confirmed that no life could be saved.
According to law enforcement, the driver lost control and veered off the road, striking Rodriguez, who was walking on the sidewalk.
The operator of the vehicle fled the scene but eventually abandoned the car after it broke down. Authorities apprehended a 37-year-old woman named Angela Cheveena Harrington from Fayetteville.
She is facing serious charges, including causing a death by operating a motor vehicle, hit-and-run, driving under the influence, and failing to stay within a lane. Additionally, officers observed a minor passenger in the vehicle, prompting accusations of neglecting dependents.
Harrington has been locked up with a bond set at $105,000.
