Fatal Northwest shooting death of Akim Toure

The Metropolitan Police Department is currently investigating a tragic shooting incident in the Northwest region of Washington, D.C.

On Sunday, August 3, 2025, at around 11:04 p.m., police officers from the First District were dispatched to the 400 block of New Jersey Avenue in the Northwest. Upon their arrival, they discovered an adult male lying unconscious and not breathing, suffering from injuries caused by gunfire. Emergency medical services were immediately called and transported the injured individual to a nearby hospital. Despite the efforts of the hospital staff, the man was pronounced deceased later that evening.

This individual has been confirmed as Akim Toure, a 27-year-old resident of Riverdale, Maryland.

The Metropolitan Police Department is encouraging anyone with potential information regarding this incident to refrain from taking any action and instead contact the authorities directly. Currently, the Metropolitan Police Department is offering a reward up to $25,000 for information that leads to the apprehension and successful prosecution of those responsible for this homicide in the District of Columbia.
