Utah Highway Patrol authorities have officially identified the deceased individual as Joel Sotelo Cabrera, a 28-year-old resident of West Jordan. The fatal incident took place on Sunday when the man was struck by a pickup truck while crossing I-80 eastbound near Kimball Junction in Summit County.

According to preliminary reports from law enforcement, Sotelo Cabrera had exited his personal vehicle and was walking along the roadside when he was involved in the collision. Emergency dispatchers were alerted at approximately 11:30 p.m., leading to the prompt arrival of first responders at the scene.

The injured individual was transported by air ambulance to the University of Utah Medical Center. Unfortunately, medical professionals were unable to save the man, and he passed away before reaching the hospital facility.
