Fatal Ottawa plane crash death of Stéphane Tessier
Following the Grumman AA-5A aircraft he operated crashing near the Ottawa airport, Stéphane Tessier succumbed to his injuries.
The pilot of the small plane that went down near the Ottawa airport last Thursday has been confirmed as Stéphane Tessier. His death resulted from the accident that occurred shortly after the aircraft departed from the Gatineau airport.
Investigations reveal that Tessier had been a co-owner of the involved Grumman AA-5A plane since the year 2018. The Société de transport de l’Outaouais, his employer, chose to refrain from public comment, acknowledging the tragedy by placing flags at half-mast at their Gatineau headquarters. Following this event, the company informed staff about the availability of psychological support services.
The Transportation Safety Board has noted that its examination of the incident is currently in the preliminary field investigation stage. Preliminary findings suggest the aircraft experienced substantial oil loss prior to its descent. To conduct a thorough assessment, TSB investigators visited the crash location on Thursday and Friday, gathering statements from witnesses and emergency personnel. The wreckage has since been transported to a specialized laboratory facility near the Ottawa airport for further examination.
