Fatal Cincinnati shooting death of Chrishonda Wynn
Cincinnati law enforcement officials have confirmed the identity of the woman killed during a shooting incident in the Over-the-Rhine district on Wednesday, August 6th.
According to an official statement released by police on August 7th, the shooting took place on Republic Street within the 1600 block around 9:10 in the evening.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered 34-year-old Chrishonda Wynn injured. She was transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, but unfortunately, she later passed away there.
Sergeant Phil Buccino revealed that Wynn was an “unintended target” who was merely an innocent bystander. He indicated that she was struck by gunfire coming from a vehicle. The sergeant mentioned that the suspect fired between 15 to 20 shots.
Sergeant Buccino described the incident as someone driving by and deliberately firing numerous bullets at an innocent individual.
At this time, police have not made any arrests or released information regarding a suspect.
This incident marks the second fatality in the Over-the-Rhine area within the past 24 hours. On the previous night, August 5th, at 10:45 p.m., a 35-year-old man was killed inside a vehicle located in the 2000 block of Mohawk Place, near McMicken Avenue.
