Investigators are currently gathering more information regarding a severe early morning confrontation Friday involving an off-duty law enforcement officer in Tustin.

Law enforcement units arrived at the scene around 5:22 a.m. at a house situated in the 13000 block of Tustin East Drive.

According to the Tustin Police Department, upon arrival, officers found a female individual with injuries caused by gunfire, and she was taken to a regional hospital where she was confirmed deceased.

The deceased female individual has been identified as 45-year-old Brittany Shaw, as confirmed by Orange County Supervisor Don Wagner.

At this time, the circumstances leading to the fatal shooting are not yet known.

The off-duty deputy involved has been placed on paid administrative leave as a result of the shooting incident, as per the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
