Manatee County authorities report a decomposing male body was located within a retention pond situated near the southbound off-ramp of a major interstate roadway. Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Randy Warren indicated the remains are likely the body of the missing 18-year-old, Giovanni Pelletier, though an official confirmation is still pending. Law enforcement officials have maintained communication with Pelletier’s family, keeping them updated on the unfolding events concerning their son’s disappearance.
Information gathered by deputies suggests Pelletier was en route northbound on I-75 accompanied by his cousins. Warren stated that relatives relayed accounts indicating Pelletier abruptly exhibited unusual behavior before vacating the moving vehicle. Pelletier’s last known sighting occurred approximately at 1:30 a.m. on August 1st, while he was in vacation mode in the Englewood area.
His family confirmed Pelletier was visiting relatives via an auto trip when it was reported he “displayed erratic conduct, left the car, and started walking away.” Significantly, Pelletier allegedly sent several text messages to his mother and other relatives during this period, seeking assistance.
