Mariano Diaz-Pichardo died in a fatal car crash in Lindenhurst

Fatal car crash death of Mariano Diaz-Pichardo occurred in Lindenhurst

Suffolk County authorities reported that a man was killed Thursday morning when struck by two large trucks while crossing Sunrise Highway near Buffalo Avenue in Lindenhurst. The incident happened on the morning of August 07, 2025.

According to the police report, the victim was identified as a 60-year-old man named Mariano Diaz-Pichardo. Initial information indicated he was crossing the road at around 9 a.m. when he was first hit by a large box truck.

Shortly after being struck by the first vehicle, Diaz-Pichardo was hit again by a second truck, a Ford F550. The investigation revealed the driver of the Hino box truck and the driver of the Ford F550 were not injured in the collision.

Diaz-Pichardo was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries there. The incident at the intersection is currently under investigation by Suffolk County police.
