Law enforcement sources confirm that Michael McClellan, identified as 37-year-old Michael McClellan, has formally pleaded guilty to charges including second-degree murder and aggravated assault involving a deadly weapon. These legal measures were announced by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office following an incident that unfolded on Friday.
The tragic sequence of events took place within a dwelling situated on S Palmer Ave. in the community of Homosassa Springs. Initial reports triggered a domestic disturbance alert, culminating in McClellan allegedly firing shots inside the residence.
Homosassa Springs authorities reported that a young individual, previously identified as a juvenile, managed to escape the premises after the initial gunfire erupted. Credited with providing crucial information, this minor played a pivotal role in enabling deputies to secure the surrounding area.
After an extended period of negotiation spanning several hours, deputies successfully established communication with McClellan. The tense standoff concluded without further loss of life, though tragically, one person had already been killed. Sheriff David Vincent characterized the dangerous situation, expressing his profound sadness regarding the fatal outcome.
