Fatal Ohio car crash death of Jason Caponera

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a pedestrian from New York met his demise on Friday evening when struck by an automobile. The individual, Jason Caponera, who resided in Yonkers, New York, was identified by law enforcement officials. Emergency services were dispatched to the Lower Valley Pike vicinity at 9:30 PM for a collision involving a person on foot.

Inquiries revealed that Mr. Caponera was walking along the roadside when two dogs, reportedly unattended from a local residence, dashed into the street and approached him. Attempting to evade the situation, he crossed into the path of traffic and was subsequently hit by a Chevrolet Cruze. The driver, a 35-year-old resident of New Carlisle, was operating the vehicle at the time of the incident.

Mr. Caponera was transported to Mercy Health in Enon for medical treatment but succumbed to his injuries at the facility. One of the dogs involved in the initial encounter was also involved in the subsequent collision and suffered only minor injuries, according to reports. The driver of the car was not reported to be injured.

The authorities indicate that the incident is currently undergoing a formal investigation.
