Henrico County authorities have confirmed that the individual killed in a fatal motorcycle accident on August 10 was identified as 57-year-old resident Arnold Lee Powell Jr.

At approximately 8 p.m., law enforcement officers were dispatched to the intersection of River Road and Panorama Drive following reports of a motorcycle collision. Upon their arrival, they found Powell suffering from severe injuries. Emergency medical services transported him to a nearby hospital, where his condition ultimately proved fatal.

According to preliminary findings, Powell was traveling westbound on River Road when his motorcycle veered off the roadway and collided with a utility pole. The force of the impact ejected him from the vehicle, which subsequently came to rest in the center of River Road.

Investigators are collaborating with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to ascertain the exact cause and manner of death. At this time, there is no indication that factors such as excessive speed or alcohol impairment contributed to the incident.
