**Sally Bedell dies in fatal Bumpass drowning**

**Fatal Bumpass drowning death of Sally Bedell**

The Louisa County Sheriff’s Office is conducting an investigation following the death of Sally Bedell, a 19-year-old from Arlington, Virginia, who drowned in Bumpass.

According to reports, the incident occurred on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at around 10:45 p.m. near Sandy Point Drive. Eyewitnesses stated that Ms. Bedell jumped from a structure into the water and went missing after resurfacing. Authorities responded quickly and located her unresponsive in the water.

Paramedics and the Spotsylvania County Dive Team were on the scene. Despite their efforts to save her, Ms. Bedell was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of death is believed to be drowning, and the incident is currently under investigation.
