Fatal Fargo car crash death of Alex Frank
A fatal car crash in Fargo involving a stolen motorcycle has been identified. The operator of the motorcycle, Sophia Lundgren, came forward after seeing news reports about the incident. Highway Patrol confirmed the fatal motorcycle versus vehicle collision on August 9th, 2025. The motorcyclist was ejected from their bike following a failure to stop at a red light.
Fargo resident Sophia Lundgren is now claiming the motorcycle involved in the fatal accident belonged to her. She stated Valley News Live previously reported on the motorcycle crash, noting the North Dakota Highway Patrol’s confirmation of the fatality.
Lundgren revealed she had recently purchased the Yamaha sport bike. Unfortunately, she only got to ride it for a few weeks before it was stolen. “One night, I parked it normally and it was gone the next morning,” she described.
Lundgren mentioned filing a police report. She remained unaware of the connection until seeing news reports. “I was shocked to learn the rider died in the crash,” she shared.
Sophia expressed shock and distress over the tragedy associated with her former property, struggling to comprehend the outcome. “It’s incredibly hard thinking about ‘this poor choice led to something worse’,” she commented.
The deceased motorcyclist has been identified as 31-year-old Alex Frank. According to a GoFundMe page, Frank had been battling substance abuse but was making progress towards recovery. Family members added he was social and was striving to regain custody of his children.
A memorial, including a wooden cross, has been established at the accident location on Broadway near 29th Avenue North. The site features heartfelt messages and offerings like flowers and stuffed toys.
Expressing sympathy for the grieving family, Lundgren stated, “The whole situation is just terrible,” despite losing her motorcycle. She encountered difficulties when her insurance denied her claims, leaving her without financial compensation or the returned vehicle.
Valley News Live has attempted to connect with Frank’s family for an interview but has not yet succeeded.
