Fatal Walnut Creek car crash death of Alina Safi
The Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office has officially confirmed the identity of the teen who died in a serious accident in Walnut Creek over the weekend. The teenager, whose name is Alina Safi, is the person authorities have identified.
Law enforcement arrived at the scene around 4:40 p.m. on Saturday following reports of a severe head-on collision. This occurred on eastbound Ygnacio Valley Road, located just east of Oak Grove Road in Walnut Creek.
Alina Safi, who was driving one of the cars involved, was pronounced deceased at the location where the accident happened. The Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office reported that five other people from the vehicles in the crash were transported to hospital facilities. One of these individuals was a minor, who was airlifted to UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital in Oakland.
A canine companion, who was occupying a seat within one of the motor vehicles, was rescued by a helpful member of the public and taken to a veterinary hospital for urgent care.
