Fatal Reno car crash death of Charles German
A man died following a collision on Douglas Fir Drive, authorities reported. Reno Highway Patrol confirmed 52-year-old Charles German from Dana Point, California, passed away in the incident that took place shortly after 11:00 p.m. on August 7th.
According to an early assessment by the NHP, a 2024 Mercedes GLS 450 was traveling westbound on SR431 near Douglas Fir Drive. Patrol officials stated German lost control of the vehicle and veered off the designated road path. The Mercedes then crossed into the right shoulder before its side collided with a barrier. The impact pushed the car back across the highway and onto the left shoulder.
After hitting the barrier, the vehicle came to rest on the eastbound side of the road. First responders pronounced German dead at the scene.
The same SUV was carrying two other adults who were not hurt.
Preliminary findings suggest German’s death was not the result of injuries sustained in the crash. The Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office is awaiting a formal determination of the cause of death.
NHP spokespersons have stated they don’t suspect any criminal activity was involved in German’s passing.
