Fatal Tacoma shooting death of Jaedyn Williams
The Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office has pinpointed the 18-year-old man killed during a shooting at Tacoma’s MultiCare Allenmore Hospital. The location was the 1900 block of South Union Avenue, an incident that claimed the life of University Place resident Jaedyn Williams.
According to official records, Williams passed away on August 6th due to a torso gunshot wound. The death has been officially classified as a homicide by authorities. A 25-year-old woman, Martice Lawon Ryan, faces serious charges including first-degree murder and first-degree assault stemming from this shooting incident. Prosecutors also allege she shot and wounded Williams’ female companion at the hospital location.
Court documents indicate Williams and his partner were waiting in the emergency room area, seeking treatment for a non-life-threatening elbow injury. The woman involved reported that Ryan entered the waiting room after they checked in, approached the pair, and questioned Williams about his attention. Williams stated he hadn’t been looking at Ryan. Ryan then asked if they were familiar with each other, and the deceased indicated they were not acquainted.
Prosecution documents state Ryan pulled out a weapon and fired at the two people present. The woman informed police she had no prior knowledge of Ryan and they had no previous encounters. During the initial court appearance for Ryan, Williams’ father made a strong plea to the court commissioner, emphasizing the terrifying nature of the event. He stressed the sense of vulnerability felt in a hospital setting.
Ryan is currently being held without bail at the Pierce County Jail. Hearings regarding potential bail are scheduled for a later date.
