Police authorities reported a fatal incident involving a firearm in the Chickasaw region on Wednesday evening.

Uniformed officers were dispatched to the West Broadway area in the early evening hours of Wednesday, responding to an initial call about a possible shooting. Upon their arrival, the responding team encountered a female individual who was reported to be injured from a gunshot wound. Medical personnel were immediately involved, and she was transported to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, her condition deteriorated, resulting in her death. The authorities later confirmed her identity as Jermia Offutt, a 28-year-old resident.

At this time, no arrests have been made in connection with this tragic event. The Louisville Metro Police Department’s Homicide Unit is actively working to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
