Emergency medical teams in Costa Rica successfully resuscitated a second swimmer at the beach on Sunday with cardiopulmonary resuscitation, but were unable to save the life of the famous actor Malcolm Jamal Warner, as confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter.
According to a report from the Red Cross in the Latin American nation, emergency services were alerted on Sunday afternoon at 2:10 p.m. to an urgent situation involving two men in distress because of a water incident at Playa Grande, Cahuita, Limon.
When emergency vehicles arrived at the beach, medical staff treated two adult males. Paramedics applied CPR to one man, who was then taken to a local medical facility in critical condition.
However, attempts to revive the second swimmer, identified as Malcolm Jamal Warner, using CPR were unsuccessful. Tragically, he was pronounced dead at the beach.
Local Costa Rican police were then brought to the scene to handle the required legal procedures.
Following the news of his death by asphyxiation from a powerful ocean current near Limon, the well-known actor, nominated for an Emmy, who portrayed Theo Huxtable, has been honored by many people in the entertainment field.
Notable figures who have paid tribute to Warner include Questlove, Tracee Ellis Ross, Magic Johnson, Jamie Foxx, Taraji P. Henson, Ben Crump, Senator Raphael Warnock, and Maxwell.
The Costa Rican National Police have officially confirmed that Warner died from asphyxia caused by a strong ocean current close to a beach in Limon. His identity was officially confirmed by the authorities.
