A young man from Antioch has been identified as the person who tragically passed away after drowning at a beach location in Rio Vista. According to reports, the individual, identified as Nico Cuevas, was 23 years old at the time of his death.

Cuevas was the victim of a drowning incident at Sandy Beach County Park in Rio Vista on Wednesday afternoon. It is reported that he entered the Sacramento River around 4:30 p.m. and did not resurface at that time.

Search operations were halted due to darkness on Wednesday, but were resumed early on Thursday morning. Rescue crews ultimately located Cuevas’s body later that day using specialized underwater equipment. This method allowed them to retrieve the unfortunate victim from the river.

The life of the young man was cut short, leaving behind a two-year-old son. Family members expressed deep grief over their loss, sharing a heartfelt message on an online fundraising platform. They described the bond they shared with their child as “pure and unbreakable,” adding that it was devastating to have such a precious connection ended so prematurely.
