Gonzalez was standing beside his car on the right side of the southbound lanes of Interstate 75, specifically close to the Clays Ferry Bridge area.

According to local law enforcement, another person involved in the collision sustained injuries that, while serious, were not considered immediately life-threatening. They were subsequently transported to a hospital.
