Fatal Palatine car crash death of full name of deceased victim Zishan S. Ladha
A pedestrian met his demise in Palatine on Tuesday, August 12, following a collision with a vehicle while he was crossing Northwest Highway.
According to police reports, responding units arrived shortly before 8:30 p.m. at a vehicle versus pedestrian crash location on the northbound section of Northwest Highway, close to the East Wilson Street intersection.
Emergency responders found the pedestrian, Zishan S. Ladha, a 38-year-old resident of Palatine, lying unconscious in the roadway. Ladha was immediately transported to a nearby medical facility with severe injuries.
Tragically, two days later on August 14, Ladha succumbed to the injuries he suffered in the incident.
Preliminary investigation, supported by a witness account, suggests Ladha was crossing Northwest Highway eastbound on foot when he entered the northbound curb lane, away from a designated crosswalk, and was dressed in dark attire. He was struck by a gray Buick Enclave.
The driver of the vehicle, an 81-year-old male, remained at the scene and is assisting with the ongoing investigation. No citations have currently been issued.
Northbound lanes of Northwest Highway, extending from East Palatine Road to East Wood Street, were closed until approximately 11:15 p.m. on August 12 to allow for the police on-scene investigation.
The crash remains under examination by the Palatine Police Department, with assistance from the MCAT Serious Traffic Crash Accident Reconstruction (STAR) team.
