Fatal Spartanburg County car crash death of Jose ‘Poncho’ Ocampo
The Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office has officially identified the individual who died in a fatal collision earlier this week. Law enforcement reported that the accident occurred on Highway 9 before 7:45 a.m. on Friday, situated near Brannon Circle.
Investigators stated that an SUV was maneuvering out of Brannon Circle onto Highway 9 when it was struck by another motorist. The impact caused the vehicle to subsequently crash into a third car that was also on the road.
According to the coroner’s findings, a 41-year-old passenger from the first SUV, identified as Jose “Poncho” Ocampo, passed away from his injuries immediately at the scene. The coroner confirmed that Ocampo died as a result of the trauma received during the collision.
Several individuals who were inside the vehicles involved in the crash also sustained injuries. Emergency medical services transported these individuals to a nearby hospital for treatment.
