Fatal Marigny shooting death of Michael Burks

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office determined the identity of the man killed during last week’s Marigny incident. The victim is Michael Burks, a 44-year-old male.

According to law enforcement sources, responding officers located Burks in a state of unresponsiveness in the early hours of Thursday morning. He was discovered with indications of multiple firearm discharges in the 2100 block of Decatur Street, specifically around 3:10 a.m. By the time the medical examiner’s team arrived, the individual was pronounced deceased.
