Fatal Springfield shooting death of Ayden Paige

The Sangamon County Coroner has officially identified the individual who passed away following a violent incident in Springfield on Monday evening. In an official statement released on August 20th, the Coroner’s office identified the deceased as Ayden Paige, a 18-year-old resident of Rochester. Further examination confirmed that Paige succumbed to injuries caused by a single gunshot wound.

Springfield police were dispatched to the intersection of S. 14th Street and Cornell Avenue at 5:51 p.m. on Monday. Upon their arrival, emergency personnel discovered three individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. These first responders immediately provided medical attention, transporting all three injured persons to a local hospital for treatment.

Tragically, despite the urgent medical intervention, Ayden Paige was pronounced deceased shortly after arriving at the facility, around 7 p.m. The other two individuals involved remain in custody for further medical evaluation and investigation. This incident represents a significant loss within the Springfield community.
