The Jefferson County Coroner, Bill Yates, stated in an official report that a 29-year-old female was fatally shot during an alleged domestic dispute. The attack took place around 10:30 a.m., reported to have occurred on 5th Street North near 6th Avenue North within the Lipscomb area.

The chief of the local police force, Jatavius Merritt, informed a local news outlet on Friday that a man named Alfred Lee Colvin III, aged 32 and from Bessemer, has been arrested. He faces serious charges, specifically Capital Murder, related to the fatal shooting.

The identity of the woman killed has been confirmed as Angelicca Newton, a resident of Center Point, and it is noted she was expecting a baby at the time of her death.
