Fatal Hamburg car crash death of Darryl Jones

New York State Police are examining a fatal incident on New York’s Route 90, westbound. The crash occurred around 4:48 a.m. on Monday near Exit 57 in the Hamburg region. According to the investigation, Darryl Jones, who was 60 years old and from Yalaha, Florida, walked from a close-by hotel directly onto the highway and was struck by a truck. The truck’s driver reportedly informed law enforcement that initially they suspected hitting a deer, but after reviewing the vehicle’s dashboard camera recording, they realized it was a person and contacted the authorities. Jones was located in a nearby ditch. The Erie County Medical Examiner’s Office took custody of the body for further examination.
