Fatal Bakersfield shooting death of Maria Silvia Gonzalez Gandara

The Kern County Coroner’s Office officially identified the victims of a tragic incident in southeast Bakersfield on Wednesday evening. The female victim was confirmed as Maria Silvia Gonzalez Gandara, aged 48. The male victim was identified as Isidro Felix Lopez, also 48 years old.

Both Maria Silvia Gonzalez Gandara and Isidro Felix Lopez were pronounced dead at the scene located on Buckley Avenue. The authorities received a report about the fatal shooting around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The Kern County Sheriff’s Office reported receiving a call at approximately 6:30 p.m. regarding a shooting incident in the 500 block of Buckley Avenue, situated near South Union Avenue and East Panama Lane. According to the Sheriff’s Office investigation, the event appears to have stemmed from a domestic conflict, culminating in a man fatally shooting his spouse before turning the gun on himself.
