Early Sunday morning authorities confirmed a single fatality and multiple injuries resulting from a motor vehicle mishap in the Newtown region.

Emergency services were dispatched to a collision site located on Berkshire Road, in proximity to Zoar Road, at approximately 2:40 a.m. According to preliminary reports, a 2017 Ford Mustang GT was traversing westbound on Route 34 (Berkshire Road) when the operator deviated from the path and failed to successfully navigate a designated bend.

In the aftermath of this deviation, the vehicle exited the westbound roadway and collided with a substantial tree. Law enforcement agencies identified the deceased as Mary Cordero, a 19-year-old resident of Danbury. Further examination indicated her position within the vehicle was the rear middle seat at the time of the incident.

The surviving four individuals involved in the accident were conveyed to Danbury Hospital for medical attention. Initial assessments suggest two of them sustained severe injuries.

Law enforcement officials have indicated that their probe into this occurrence is currently active and ongoing.
