Chatham County law enforcement updated the public Friday on an ongoing death inquiry in Pittsboro that involved coordination with authorities in Kentucky.

Initial reports indicated emergency responders went to a residence on Forest Creek Drive Thursday. The Chatham County Sheriff’s Office confirmed they were working alongside investigators in Florence, Kentucky. The nature of the incident evolved significantly during the investigation.

On Friday, officials revealed that someone at the Forest Creek Drive home contacted 911 claiming they had killed their spouse. This person was identified as Andre Landon Hill, a 55-year-old resident of the area.

Upon entering the home, deputies discovered the body of Hill’s 52-year-old wife, Shannon Lee Bailey-Hill. It is believed Hill was elsewhere in the state, prompting contact with the Florence police department. Details regarding the location where Hill’s body was found were not provided by investigators.

The Chatham County Sheriff’s Office stated the circumstances surrounding the deaths “seem consistent” with a murder-suicide scenario. However, the official investigation remains open.
