Derwood, Maryland police report the homicide of an elderly woman. Montgomery County officers responded to a missing person’s report concerning 81-year-old Victoria Ellen Shay.

The victim was reportedly missing from her residence on Muncaster Road, according to a police statement. Shay was known to share her home with her son, Daniel Paul Shay, and his companion, Dwayne Anthony Embrey.

Upon their arrival, law enforcement discovered signs that a crime had occurred. During questioning, Mr. Shay informed the officers that he had not encountered his mother for several days and was unaware of her whereabouts.

Initial reports indicated that Mr. Shay sought assistance from his roommate to manage the aftermath of the woman’s disappearance. The incident is currently under investigation by Montgomery County authorities.
