Fatal Sandusky Township car crash death of Alfred Reiter
Law enforcement authorities from the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Fremont Post are examining a fatal collision on US 20 at its junction with CR 128 in Sandusky Township. According to official reports, the incident occurred at approximately 9:35 p.m. on August 23.
The involved vehicles were a 2013 Chrysler Town and Country, driven by Elaine Reiter, who was 74 years old and resided in Helena, and a 2016 Ford Explorer, operated by Troy Borrelli, aged 17 and from Avon Lake. The initial police account indicates Elaine Reiter was proceeding southbound on CR 128 when she failed to stop at a stop sign before entering the crossing with US 20.
Consequently, the Ford Explorer, which was moving southeastbound on US 20, made contact with the Town and Country. Following the impact, the Explorer veered off the southern edge of the highway and collided with a guardrail barrier. Tragically, Alfred Reiter, Elaine’s husband and the right front passenger in the Town and Country, was pronounced deceased at the scene by emergency responders.
Elaine Reiter was taken to Saint Vincent Mercy Hospital in Toledo for medical treatment.
