Deborah Higgins dies in fatal Nicholson two-vehicle crash

Fatal Nicholson two-vehicle crash death of Deborah Higgins

State police reported Thursday evening that a 61-year-old woman from Nicholson has died as a result of a collision involving two motor vehicles in Wyoming County. The incident occurred on Route 1014.

Deborah Higgins was observed traveling eastbound on that roadway at approximately 7:25 p.m. According to state police, she was operating an all-terrain vehicle at the time of the accident. The driver of a nearby Chevrolet Silverado truck contacted her ATV, causing her to be ejected from the vehicle.

The 19-year-old driver of the Silverado, identified as Gavin Mulhern, stated his intention to overtake Higgins’ slower-moving machine. However, the timing was such that Mulhern’s truck collided with the ATV when Higgins attempted to make a left turn off the road, inadvertently entering the truck’s path.

Police noted that Higgins was not secured by a seatbelt and that her all-terrain vehicle lacked traditional doors.
