Fatal New Britain shooting death of Jayson Bruno-Matos

The New Britain Police Department reported that officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Arch Street late Friday morning after receiving reports of shots being fired. Upon their arrival, authorities discovered a man suffering from serious injuries caused by gunfire. The individual, identified as 42-year-old Jayson Bruno-Matos from Bristol, was transported to a nearby hospital. Regrettably, medical staff were unable to save him, and he unfortunately passed away due to his wounds.

Preliminary findings by investigators suggest the incident was connected to an altercation or disturbance. Police stated at this time they do not have any information indicating that other individuals in the vicinity are at risk.
