Fatal Brighton shooting death of Joseph Ramirez
A man is facing charges related to the fatal shooting of Joseph Ramirez, a father of two, in the Adams County Court system.
The incident occurred on January 1, 2024, near East 78th Avenue and Dahlia Street in Colorado. According to police, Angel Lozano surrendered to authorities that evening and was taken into custody. He was previously considered a person of interest in the case.
The 17th Judicial District Attorney’s office later formally charged Lozano with one count of first-degree murder. Court documents indicate that Lozano was found guilty of a reduced charge, reckless manslaughter, on Thursday.
Joseph Ramirez was identified by family members. His mother mentioned he had left behind a wife and two children, aged two and five, along with a large extended family network. Police sources suggest that Lozano and Ramirez were acquainted with each other.
